Greeting Students

Today is the last day of the marking period. I would like to congratulate everyone. You will be receiving a grade based on your performance. My hope is that you are trying your best. If you are trying your best you will more than likely get a good grade. If your only motivation is to get a good grade you are missing the point. The reason for education is to prepare you for life. Good grades are important, but they should be the result of hard work and dedication. You should be developing good Habits of Mind that will assist you though out your life.

In school you always get a second chance. At the beginning of each year you start over. So if you fail you can take it over or go to summer school. But in the real world they don't have summer school. So if you mess up you may never get a second chance. Just think of the people that you know who can't seem to get a break.

We are starting the second marking period this is a new beginning, your second chance. Make the most of it. Try your best. Do this for yourself, not for me and not for a grade. If you try your best you will be successful. This may mean that you get a good grade, but more importantly this will prepare you for the rest of your life. Grades in school do not guarantee success. Success will only come if you go out and get. So try your best. Do not settle for just doing what you need to get a good grade, do more. "
Always bear in mind that your own resolution to success is more important than any other one thing." ~Abraham Lincoln
