10/4 Friend or Fake

Do Now:  Watch Friend or Fake?
In the video that we are going to watch, Keyan meets an online friend that he thinks about meeting in person. His friends, Slick and Tad, think that this is a bad idea. While watching, think about who you agree with and why.

Question of the Day:  Keyan’s new online friend wants to meet face-to-face, but is this is a good idea? Have any of you ever met new people in virtual worlds, chat rooms, or on social networking sites?

Write an e-mail(Post it on your Blog) to a classmate about how to spot an online fake.
Include the following information.
  • How an online fake might try to convince you that they are a friend.
  • What types of things an online fake might say to you.
  • Why meeting someone you met online in person is a bad idea.
Daily Objectives:   Given a variety of multimedia texts and videos, students will analyze issues related to Digital Etiquette in writing, with a student performance at the basic level or above and 65% on writing rubric.
